REEFER CARGO LOGISTICS: RUSSIA, BALTIC, CIS.

First international conference REEFER CARGO LOGISTICS: Russia, Baltic, CIS successfully held on 31st May 2010 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Over 65 delegates from leading companies in Russia, Belgium, Poland and USA attended the event.

Alexei Bezborodov, General Manager of Infranews gave a highlight on Russian reefer market. In particular he pointed out the latest trend of shifting fruit logistics from bulkers to reefer containers.

Of great interest was a speech made by Lyudmila Filina, adjunct chair of West-Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin, who presented risk evaluation model applied to commercial quality of perishables in reefer containers.

Dmitry Ushakov, Deputy Director, REFPEREVOZKI Agency, tried to estimate the potential of today’s intermodal transportation calling the port of Vladivostok the most important link in this chain. Along with steady freight flow in the direction of Moscow, Vladivostok also handles opposite flows of reefer cargoes.

Vladimir Kalugin, Branch Director of Atlantic Pelagic AS, touched upon the experience of a vertical-integrated holding in Russia, including cooperation with shipping companies and port-based terminals. All the attendees were given the opportunity to witness the project of reefer warehouse in Nikolayev.

By overall consent, the speech by Vladimir Stefanovsky of All-Russian Research Institute of Refrigeration Industry was the best. Chief Research Officer declared that nowadays the admitted terms of products such as slightly-frozen, frozen, deeply frozen are replaced by the term of refrigerated product. There are even definite temperature ranges for storage and shipment of such products subject to standardization. This classification will contribute to unification of reefer equipment, design estimates, as well as terms of shipment in reefer logistics.

Active discussion was caused by Globus Consulting and Accellos Inc. If you are interested in obtaining sets of documentation, feel free to contact us at info@ibforum.ru
